My compositions can be used in a variety of productions. Below is a description of the different ways to obtain a license.
Production music (Royalty-free)
You can find my royalty-free works on the Pond5 website. Royalty-free in this context means that the license is redeemed for a one-time fee, which I have priced for the songs in advance. You will receive both the license and the audio file conveniently in one place for immediate use. My profile name on the service is patrikaisenmusiikki.
However, please note that performance royalties for works that end up in TV and film distribution are always monitored and collected by Teosto (the performing rights organization of Finland) in accordance with normal copyright practice.
The production music catalogue is on the process of updating during 2025. Eventually it’ll contain about 50 compositions.
Permissions granted by Teosto
In most cases, Teosto is responsible for the usage permissions for compositions other than those found in the online service mentioned above. The exceptions to this are the purposes of use listed below.
Once you have received the usage permission, you will of course need the audio file. If the song you are looking for is available on general music download services (e.g. iTunes or my own online store), you can purchase the file there.
If the song is not available online, you are welcome to inquire about its availability from me. If the audio file is in my archive, I will be happy to send it to you once the usage permission has been obtained.
Permissions granted by me
If the music is used for the purposes listed below (or the composition is not available on Pond5), I will be responsible for granting the license myself. Contact me and tell me about your project, and let’s find out how the music could be used!
Game music = music that plays “inside” the game as part of it.
Intensive use of music = for example, support songs, music logos, etc.
Major rights = performing music composed specifically for a stage work (for example, opera or ballet) in its original (stage) context
use of music in films, short films and documentaries for theatrical release
use of music in TV drama series broadcast outside the Nordic countries
